Gary
As Cameron is far more popular with the apolitical public (so about 95% of voters) than Davis, i try and look optimistically on his various utterings.

My read is that Cameron is aware that voters cannot stomach politicians from different parties always disagreeing with each other out of principle. Hence, this is a point he is ramming home at every possible opportunity.

He has a few simple themes which resonate with voters (i am caring, i am nice, i also dont really like politicians, and i am whatever you want me to be) and he is sticking to them. This is smart. One hopes that when in power, we will see detailed, well thought out policy. But for now shut your eyes, hold on tight and enjoy the ride.

That's one tactic I suppose...

Can't we have the leader who has a shot at the top job now and dispense with all the heroics?

Aren't we getting ahead of ourselves here?

Isn't this leader's job to lose the next election and then stoically fall on his sword so that all his detractors can say what thoroughly good chap he was. Leaving the way for the leader who has a real shot at the top job?

Excellent stuff! The critique I've drafted for the Conservatives Against Cameron's NewLabourisation blog looks mild in comparison! Sir, I salute you!
