Here’s a question for you:

If a running tap is causing the bath to overflow what would you do: frantically mop the floor? Or simply switch off the tap?

You’d think the answer was simple but, really, it’s not simple to everyone…

That nice Mr Blair wants society to be more respectful and less yobbish. It seems that he believes Charles Clarke has other ideas.

According to The Times:

Tony Blair has rebuked Charles Clarke, the home secretary, for failing to respond adequately to public concerns about antisocial behaviour.

According to confidential minutes, seen by The Sunday Times, of a meeting at No 10 on June 20, he warned Clarke: “We needed to address (the “respect” agenda) now, otherwise a sense of fatalism would set in.”

What do you mean, Tony, fatalism ‘would’ set in? It’s in, mate. Well and truly set in, its feet are under the table and it’s drinking my beer. Nothing changes except to get worse and most of the general public see no reason to believe the direction we’re heading in will change dramatically enough to really matter.

Blair wants to tackle the ‘respect’ issue using what he regards as ‘tough’ measures.
